Student-Centered Policy

Robotics adheres to a Student-Centered Policy and it’s important that our students are able to focus, work well in groups, demonstrate problem solving skills, lead and be susceptible to be lead.

Tryout Details

• Tryouts will be conducted over a period of 3 days to accommodate different schedules.
• Your student only has to attend one of the days.
• Tryouts will be 1 hour beginning right after school in room 202 and pick up will be at the front door at 4:45 PM.
• Part 1, a brief written assessment will be administered to determine familiarity with the current challenge, 5 questions will be pulled directly from the overview mentioned above and will have a base answer. Each question will be worth 10 points.
• Part 2, time will be given to work in student lead groups assembling field elements with instructions. They will be graded on the below elements all weighing 10 points.

  • Focus
  • Communication
  • Leadership
  • Teamwork
• All assessment scores will be recorded and rated for final team determinations.

Teams Strutures

This season we will be filling 4 teams with 5 students in each for a total of 20 students.

We’re looking to structure the teams in the following manner:

• Alpha – Experienced Team (for those returning students with experience)
• Bravo – Ladybot Team (for those young ladies that work better with peers)
• Charlie – Novice Team (for those with some experience and good focus)
• Delta – Beginner Team (for those new students to the program )
